DIY Shadow Puppet Theatre

 

 

 

I design the frame and printed it out, trace it over the fabric. This can be really time consuming.

 

The perfect fabric for this project is something like the white school uniform. Fabric is able to see through what you are tracing and the black paper puppet but not too much to see you operating the puppets.  

 

To hang at the door, I use the curtain extension rod from Diaso – just perfect, no wonder it is a hot item in Diaso.

I even trace 3 stars at the bottom namely: Title, Time, Date. I added a plastic sheet in the middle of the stars so I can use a whiteboard marker to write and wipe it off easily.

Puppets

I made 3 sets of puppets for this puppet show. Two stories, The Three Little Pigs and Crane & the Fox are from adventure-in-a-box. The template they gave is flat and without any moving joint but I did some amendment and gave the moving joints so it is more realistic during the puppet show. I laminated the puppets as it is quite flimsy.

 

I created the 3^rd story “How to Brush Your Teeth”, this is a very unique one as it is colored. It has removable yellow and green color stain on teeth and blue water for gaggling. It also has toothpaste, toothbrush and floss.

 

 

 

 I also created goodie bags and snacks for the children. For admission, a cute ticket is attached on each goodie bags.

We did this shadow puppet theatre show on two runs.
